borges

my favourites:

for a fascinating explanation on how Borges' imagination anticipated the "Many Worlds Interpretation" of quantum mechanics, see: The Garden of Forking Worlds by Alberto G. Rojo, physics PhD.

in his 1973 paper, Hugh Everett includes an epigraph from Borges' short story "The Garden of Forking Paths," published 16 years before Everett first postulated the "Many Worlds Interpretation".

books

  • Victor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning"
  • urbanism and planning

  • Alain Bertaud's "How Markets Shape Cities" - former World Bank urban planner discusses how market forces lead to better urban development.
  • Donald Shoup's "The High Cost of Free Parking" - minimum parking requirements are the most expensive urban planning mistake.
